The teachings at Sarnath by the Dalai Lama

There were no cameras allowed into the area of the teachings with the Dalai Lama today. 30,000 people, most of them Tibetan monks. The chanting, the crowds, the colors. Everyone had to leave by this one tiny dirt road, insane crowds. The monk with his yoga mat, the mother with her baby on her back, and the chai tea kettles used in passing out tea to 30,000. Tomorrow, the Ganges river.

We have just arrived at Varanasi on the Ganges. Tomorrow we begin the teachings with the Dalai Lama. The temple at Bhodigaya was an incredible experience. Yesterday after the temple we toured a small village on the other side of the river. At the monastery we stayed at I was awakened
by the chanting of the monks, looked out of my window and there emerging from the fog was an 80 foot tall Buddha.
